Celebrate Pizza & Name Your Auto

10/2/2009

“For the first time ever,
overweight people outnumber
average people in America.
Doesn’t that make overweight
the average then?
Last month you were fat,
now you’re average -
hey, let’s get a pizza!”

~ Jay Leno (brainyquotes)

As if we don’t already have enough holidays to celebrate, and the next two months being the real Holidaze, if you know what I mean, “Butterbean”?  What else should we be talking about with all the negative news out on the horizon these days, but fun and frivolity with some more frivolous ways to celebrate — of course!

We here at Savvy Suzy think that naming this month –  National Pizza Month — was a no brainer idea.  Because “duh” it’s our favorite delicacy around these parts.  Yes, I said delicacy — meaning we eat it sparingly — but not like an hors d’oeuvre.    We give it top billing as the main course entree — that it deserves.

Now, you know we must be serious pizza eaters, if we prefer it over turkey on Thanksgiving Day, which has been the case for years.  Plus, it was a replacement for Trick or Treating, way back in the day, because — Hey! — it made the perfect accoutrement to a sci-fi thriller.  What else can I say?

But, unfortunately, it is fattening — so hence the reasoning behind turning it into something that is imbibed on occasion as opposed to grubbing on it on more frequent basis.  One great thing you can do — is to eat it with others in honor of, Eat Better, Eat Together Month, by serving lots of veggies with that.

So, yes, good job Savvy Suzy for bringing back links on National Pizza Month as one of the first month long observances we give a shout out to:

Today is Another Holiday…

Did you know that this day is being celebrated by someone, somewhere in the USA?  The other frivolous holiday that we pay a special mention to is — Name Your Car Day.  Have you given your car a name?  Well why not?!!  Now, is no better time than any.

Have I? Well, no! I never could come up with any ideas or felt like putting too much energy into coming up with one.  But, nevertheless, my car is very, very endearing to me — if you know what I’m talking about? Next to my nest that is, and, of course, after my family.

Here’s a list of other holidays that we’ve listed.  It’s not by no means all inclusive with every observance.  Just those with a little lightheardness.  Goodness knows we can use it — with all the negativity abounding.

Upcoming Unconventional Holidays…

Saturday, October 3rd, 2009, is International Frugal Fun Day . What can you do to celebrate this day: Go to the library and get books or a movie to celebrate National Library Month, National Book Month, and National Literacy Month all at the same frugal time.

Monday, October 5th, 2009, is Do Something Nice Day.  But if you’re one of the ones serving up negativity every day, here is your chance to lighten up a bit.  Do something nice for someone without expecting anything back in return.  If you still feel negative after that, well then, you’re a hard nut to crack!
