Log Cabin Day
6/24/2010
“There are
intrinsic
beauty in the
simplification
of a house
built on the
log cabin idea.”
~ Gustav Stickley (brainyquote)
I don’t know, there’s something about a log cabin home. Maybe my fascination with them came from my getting sets of the Lincoln Logs for Christmas, when I was a little one. They were created by, John Lloyd Wright, the son of someone who made some pretty exquisite houses, architect, Frank Lloyd Wright. Or maybe my log cabin interest piggybacks off my fascination with trees and paper.
Anyway… Virginia Handy, with the assistance of The Bad Axe Historical Society, founded The Log Cabin Society of Michigan. From there the Log Cabin Day was created to preserve the legacy of log cabins. In, 1989, the State of Michigan, declared the last Sunday in June as the official day for that state. BUT… and it’s a big one, because there are some listings that say it’s on the 25th.
You choose, because I’m putting it up regardless of what day it is…
