Innovation Time
3.01.2008Way back in the 70’s, 80’s and even 90’s, we didn’t have nearly as many options for buying things or using things as we do today. It’s a “renaissance” or a “revolution” of sort for “choice or options”.

I’ve been busy the past few months remodeling my blog site — my little nest out here in the ether. It’s an ongoing work in progress — so excuse some of the messiness and dust.
Plus I’ve got a new vehicle to fly me/us (me and my avatar persona) to destinations near and far, as I’ve mentioned before.
“We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year’s Day.”

“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” Consequently, ‘all play and no work makes Jack an “idiot!” What can I say — playing and having fun all the time can be a chore. No “pun intended!” But it can start to seem like work itself. How many times have you heard people coming back from vacations saying, “how tired” they were and they can’t wait to get back to “work.”
Or is it something akin to being stuck with push pins again and again and again…?!!! I have come to the conclusion, that when it comes to being happy in life, it needs to start with where I am right now. Not what I had before or what I want to have tomorrow.
So I’ve decided that whatever I’m working on today, whether I’m paid or not, I need to find whatever joy that task encompasses.
‘Work & Fun’ — is there such a thing? Sometimes we wonder. Last month, Inc. Magazine, did a cover story on “Fun” at work and several related stories. Maybe they wanted to write about that particular subject because it was August, and the end of summer can get pretty dry. But offices can get rather stale throughout the year — the endless loop of humdrum work. That said, is it necessary to create an ongoing atmosphere of “fun & games” to keep the employees happy?
Calling all crock pots to duty — Now! I dusted mine off and used it this summer, but now I’m definitely going to crank it up and put it in high gear now that fall is moving in. (more…)
Education is the work that our children do to prepare them for their life’s work, but it’s getting more and more expensive these days (it gets worse in the college level). What is a family on a budget to do? But, expense aside — morals and values, overcrowding factors and a host of other issues have effected our school stystems.
Is is just me or does it seem like some of our manners are being thrown out the window? Have we become so numbed out that they don’t matter any more?
Yes, I’m seriously looking for the joy in work and whatever I do.
Unofficially, summer time will begin with Memorial Day holiday, and most people get the day off. Summer the carefree time — who wants to work? We complain about work, but the truth is it helps us grow. If I look at the good in what I do it makes the whole job just flow. (more…)
