“Tree”

8.28.2008

I think that I shall never see…

A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest

Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day

And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in Summer wear

A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;

Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,

But only God can make a tree.

“The Party’s Over…” (Part 2, Credit Crunchies)

…It’s time to call it a day!”…is the way, I believe, the song goes, but in this case the lyrics should be…”The party’s over…” It’s time to stash cards away! That could very well be a revived tune that many consumers should be singing these days. (more…)

What Was I Thinking?

8.08.2008

During the past few weeks I’ve done some…

re·flec·tion (n.) A thought or an opinion resulting from such consideration. (The Free Dictionary)

…especially after going through an earthquake, which had the potential to be life threatening. We never know if it’s the so called “BIG ONE”, but being a Californian, we don’t dwell on it (However, it is important to be prepared.) Since then, I’ve been cruisin’ about the ether, with my little avatar leading the way, and coming across a lot of talented folks. Most of these folks, are a lot more savvier than me. (more…)

Rockin’ & Rollin’!!!

Things were shaken up a bit around these parts… EARTHQUAKE … Yikes!!! We haven’t had one like that in almost fifteen years. I sprained my ankle attempting to go downstairs to get under the dining room table, which is quite sturdy. It’s supposed to be better than standing in a door sash, which the experts say have caused problems in the past.) (more…)

What About Dads?

6.01.2008

Dads are simply just needed — today — and everyday! But where are they?! Why don’t we hear more about them? There’s so much information and focus being put on “Mom”, but “What About Dear ‘Ol Dad?” And how are they faring these days is what I want to know? (more…)

Ode to Moms

5.09.2008

This is the month we celebrate all the moms — of which I am one. It’s been the most life changing experience of my life! It is the main event that helped me start taking the “blinders” off. Being married and having children contributed to my growth, in untold ways.

But in honor of the day, I decided to add this poem. I was going to use it in another venue, but thought it would fit in perfectly with the topic of the month. Whether I’m employed or unemployed — maintaining a household means one never really runs out of work, whether you’re a mother or not there’s always something purposeful to do:

Some Kind of Epiphany!

April was a very…

Epiphany ~ (noun) a sudden, intuitive perception of or insight into the reality or essential meaning of something, usually initiated by some simple, homely, or commonplace occurrence or experience. (Dictionary.com)

Also, a more indepth explanation as to what my purpose is for blogging. After using some semi-foul language (that was intended to be an April Fools’ prank) it made me think of another word that makes people bristle when they hear it.

The word is being used repeatedly every day on the internet, TV, radio, newspapers and various other media outlets. There is a stigma towards people being branded with the word. It has very negative connotations. (more…)
