Out and About in the Ether

“That’s All Folks!”

I could have used “The Party’s Over…” song again for the conclusion of the Games, but “been, there, done that” — it’s time to move on. As far as critiquing the Finale — I’m going to have to say that it was more lackluster than the opening ceremonies, which were quite exceptional. It reminded me of a cross between Cirque du Soleil and The Wizard of Oz, as far as the mass drummers and dancers go.

They’ve had a few incidents, such as, China having underage athletes. When it’s all said and done — these events went over quite well. It’s back to the status quo — now that they’ve done their thing, so to speak. Well, time will tell how these events will effect the future.

I am going to have to admit, I am more of a fan of the Winter Games moreso than the Summer Games, but this one did pique my interest quite a bit. As far as the actual events go, I didn’t see any in their entirety. My family mostly “TiVoed” various venues there and here. We had other things to do, so this way allowed us to still stay up on most of the happenings.

The opening ceremonies were really lovely and I liked the music better.  Whereas, I didn’t care for the music that was offered, for the most part,  in the closing ceremony.  I still haven’t seen it all as of yet. (more…)

Extra! Extra! Read all about it! Problogger Shares The Love!!!

That was a lot of fun! Thanks goes out to Problogger for offering a summer-time diversion that was totally unexpected! Those are the best kind.

In turn, I want to thank everyone who has come through Problogger to pay a visit to my site, that he so graciously invited me and others to post our various social networks we frequent in his comment section. He’s having a list compiled, that he plans to eventually showcase on his site in the future. Oh the Love!!! ;)

Update #1: I’ve gotten one of Problogger’s compiled lists and this one has all the Twitter Folks!

Update #2: Problogger has listed bloggers from StumbleUpon and Digg, who submitted their sites.

Update #3: It appears that Problogger has run into some snags over at SU: “Problogger is Banned from StumbleUpon”.

Update #4: It appears that Problogger has been unbanned and on speaking terms with SU once again : “How Social Media Helped Me Get Unbanned from a Social Media Site in 1 Hour and 44 Minutes”

Those Crazy Chicagoans!

7.05.2008

Enough of my rantings! I’m ready for a little fun. Me and my alter ego are taking a little jaunt out of town through the ether…and over to the Midwest…to the likes of Chicago, to be exact. Just so happens, it’s my home state. What prompted this little trip, you might ask? Well, I was looking at some pictures on Yahoo!news.com, when a photo caught my eye (I’d show it, but they don’t allow, but I went and found similar one at their other site, Flickr.com.) Anyway, I did a double take, because this picture was highly unusual… (more…)

Never Too Old To Play!

When I’m out here searching the net for savvy links, I usually have no idea where they’re going to come from. I like to run into them…

serendipitously (adverb) come upon or found by accident; fortuitous: serendipitous scientific discoveries. (Dictionary.com)

That is a lot of fun for me to find new things this way. I guess that’s where my motto “expect the unexpected” came from.

Actually, I came upon it unexpectedly. No pun intended. One of my friends from SU, ‘FM’, used that comment to describe my site there, the first time our paths crossed. (His wife had been ill, but was in recuperation and he had lots of joy!) I had, unintentionally, given him the acronym that stuck, “FM” (It reminded me of a radio station that was tuned to “Joy”!) stands for “FaithMinded”. There was that bit of…

synchonicity (noun) Coincidence of events that seem to be meaningfully related, conceived in Jungian theory as an explanatory principle on the same order as causality. (Dictionary.com)

…that was in play at the time. I love when that happens!

So I came upon this posting in the same manner…

happenstance (noun) an event that might have been arranged although it was really accidental [syn: coincidence] (Dictionary.com)

It’s a lovely piece and it expresses how I feel about getting older (I agree with most, but say maybe a small few that I have a quandry with — specifically, the “get angry at God” one. I’ve been angry at God before, and that’s something that I don’t want to do anymore, because who am I to be angry at HIM. He’s my Maker!) and how in spite of the problems and issues that we have to deal with — Life is still a beautiful gift. So I want to play with this purpose in mind regardless of what age I am: (more…)

The Joke’s on Who?

4.02.2008

What kind of funny little hoaxes did you pull, unexpectedly, in the name of April Fools’ Day? Or were you the recipient of an unexpected hoax? The real question I want to know, is, has the day grown in popularity, and if so, are the pranks getting more devious or just sillier? (more…)

Time Out!

3.01.2008

Do you still watch much TV? I don’t. Only every now and then. The writer’s strike did me a favor, actually, I parred my viewing down even more. There was plenty of so called “reality TV” fare to be had now and during the strike. It’s more like surrealism + reality = ‘Surreality TV’.

“LOST”: A Show for Head and Heart

2.01.2008

In honor of my favorite show of all time coming back into the fold, I came across this link from beliefnet.com, as to whether the show is spiritual or not. Also, I was inspired to write about the show myself, back in the summer last year.

Well, I think it has spiritual overtones, and I believe that has something to do with why I like it so much. There is so much depth and hidden meaning to a lot of things that happen in the series (plus a lot of stuff that goes nowhere) — that it starts to get the mental gears turning in regards to real life events in my own life. I’m Taking My Heart, Too!

2.01.2008

I thought it would be kind of fun this time of year, since I have my new flying machine, to venture out a little further. After all that was part of the idea behind my new vehicle.
