Splurge Today… Then Saunter Tomorrow…

June 18th is National Splurge Day

When the word splurge comes up, the first thing that comes to mind is spreading some of that cheddar (aka, bread, currency, money, etc.) around excessively.  I imagine that would be the mindset of some of the more privileged amongst us or maybe not.

I’m taking a different approach here, not only in light of the economic downturn, but because that’s the way I roll… taking a more common sense (and sometimes kind of wacky) approach to doing things.  Why not use, June 18th National Splurge Day, as a way to do a little something (eat, make, create, read, look, etc.) for yourself that’s a little excessive from your normal way of doing things.

I don’t know who came up with the day (It was probably some retail establishment wanting to sell a few things.), but it doesn’t have to cost a cent or you could shell out some presidents — it’s all relative to your finances and what it takes to satisfy that urge to splurge.  If you know what I mean?

June 19th is World Sauntering Day

What is this sauntering you may say? Well, it’s taking a stroll down a street or a leisurely walk in a park, for example.  It’s when you have no time constraints.

Everyone is rushing around these days — getting carried away with doing the multi-tasking thing.  So this is the perfect day to cool your jets, sort of speak, and take it a little slower by doing a little sauntering. Sounds good to me. What about you?

It was supposedly started at the Grand Hotel (Mackinac Island) by R. T. Rabe, as a response to the jogging craze in the 1970’s.  Encouraging people to slow down and enjoy the scenery.  Now, have you got the idea?  Happy sauntering!
