Doing Savvy Little Things to My Nest
Finding The Good Junk — Wherever!
8.21.2008

I like visiting places in the real world — when I have the funds, but being able to go places virtually has expanded my view of what’s out there in the world (even more so now, due to my finances being low.) But I’m actually more of a homebody, and I like maintaining a home.
The summer is winding down around about now, and a lot of people may like to leisurely peruse the aisles of various “junk” venues to find more stuff to bring in. I think it’s something a lot of people like to do around this time of year, before they do the heavy duty shopping for new things at Christmas time. (more…)
“Paper or Plastic?”
7.04.2008It appears, that in honor of 4th of July, I’m taking to a national past time…ranting. I plan on using the new “All American soapbox”…a blog…to get up and rant about things I have issues with. One of those issues, the big ongoing debate: “Paper or plastic?” Do you get asked that question every time you go to the supermarket/grocery store? I used to get asked all the time, but it has subsided somewhat in recent months. The question is starting to heat up. (more…)
Ode to Moms
5.09.2008This is the month we celebrate all the moms — of which I am one. It’s been the most life changing experience of my life! It is the main event that helped me start taking the “blinders” off. Being married and having children contributed to my growth, in untold ways.
But in honor of the day, I decided to add this poem. I was going to use it in another venue, but thought it would fit in perfectly with the topic of the month. Whether I’m employed or unemployed — maintaining a household means one never really runs out of work, whether you’re a mother or not there’s always something purposeful to do:
In the Name of Foolishness
4.01.2008What kind of foolishness did you play in your household or at your work place on this April 1rst? I don’t usually go to the extent that I did here, but the medium lends itself more readily, due to the easy accessibility. (more…)
It’s That Time Again!
3.01.2008In honor of the best ever episode of “Lost” last week, my theme is about “Time” for the month of March. Besides the “Lost” episode, the beginning of this year is highlighting several elements dealing with time. As I mentioned earlier, this year is leap year, and for another we have to set our clocks forward again. I did an article about the early start of “Daylight Savings Time” last year.
Eye Candy for the Home
2.14.2008![]() |
I’m into organizing or reorganizing something all year long — so doing it around this time of the year is no big deal. Same goes for dieting (I don’t like to call it that.) or my eating regimen — it’s a constant monitoring (Can I eat that or why did I eat that?) kind of a thing. So when I hear people talking about it — I kind of yawn — enough already! (more…)
Sweet Ideas!
2.01.2008Okay! I’m into doing a lot of eye exercising this month — and some little hand calisthenics to boot. Now, I’m going to rachet things up a bit, and do some mental exercises. How about looking at some plants that are friendly, and will be easy to plant and maintain come spring. I guess you’d call this making some kind of plan for garden improvements.
Time to Celebrate!
1.01.2008“Another fresh new year is here . . .
Another year to live!
To banish worry, doubt, and fear,
To love and laugh and give!
“There’s No Place Like HOME!”
12.07.2007Home, is where we dwell — alone or with others — specifically, a “Family”, which is synonymous with “Home.” They are both what you make of them. It’s all in how they’re cultivated.
“Many people look forward to the new year for a new start on old habits. ”
