Savvy Suzy’s 5th Annual ThankFest 2011 – Happy Thanksgiving!

11.24.2011 by savvysuzy

MORE THANKFEST, 2011, BELOW…

Week four of our ThankFest (mine and my little avatar, that is) — starts off with being thankful for tools made out of trees like cookbooks, parchment paper, and paper plates that help out in a pinch on occasion. Plus, this week in America has a lot of folks preparing to give thanks on Thanksgiving Day.

So if we don’t want to add excessive baggage in the next few weeks or so, we’ve got to get some kind of game plan going to deal with the bounty of goodies that may or not ( if we choose not to go the excessive route) be on the agenda, as the  little ditty above is referring to.

As far as the Thankfest goes, It’s all about showing appreciation for everything God has given us. Specifically, we’re putting the spotlight on a few little things made from trees, and I get a chance to keep my art work going.

Actually, this is the 5th year we’ve been doing this. It all started in 2007 when I was at StumbleUpon. I’m still listed there, but they stopped posting the photo blog part just recently. I knew it would come to that at some point, unfortunately. I would say that most of the ThankFest has happened here (It’s good for me and my little avatar and you too!) and you can visit it, whenever — just by clicking on my ThankFest link here or on the sidebar link at the right.

As I said before, this year’s festival I decided to go back to my roots of sorts — back to appreciating trees and their many uses — like paper (I’m a paper fanatic.)

I’m listing things weekly this year. You can see the whole calendar itinerary in it’s entirety below:

THANKFEST WEEKLY CALENDAR LISTING…

11.20.11 – Thankfest Cookbook Day – This is one of our made up holiday listings, of certain items that come from trees in one way or another.  Now, cookbooks are useful tools that people will probably be using a lot this week in order to get that turkey meal in order.

. . . .

11.21.11 – Thankfest Paper Plates & Cups Day – Another one of our made up days consisting of things that are made from trees.  As far as using them to eat off on Thanksgiving Day — it’s something that I don’t normally do.  It just feels better to eat off of glass dishes, but those paper dishes help out with a large gathering or other emergency situation.

 . . .

11.22.11 – Do you use parchment paper when you’re cooking?  It will help make for an easier cleanup job.  I’ve started using it more here recently.
. . . .

11.23.11 – National Eat Cranberries Day – Turkey, dressing, and cranberry sauce just seems to go together very well. I have no idea who decided to put them together, but thanks for the serving suggestion.

. . . .

11.24.11 – It’s Gobble Gobble Day!  It’s more like folks gobbling — as oppose to the birds kind of a thing.  Folks getting stuffed with the stuffed birds.  Happy Thanksgiving!

. . . .

11.25.11 – Here are dual holidays to celebrate:  Black Friday and Buy Nothing Day.  They are the complete exact opposite of each other.

. . . .

11.26.11 – Sinkie Day – Did you let the dishes go in the dish washer or the sinkie?  Well, today 1s the day to get a handle on things — that is if you really want to, otherwise — enjoy!

A SPECIAL FEATURE THIS YEAR…

We (me & my little avatar) are adding something a little different this year… a little PDF itinerary of the calendar below for you to use to follow along with the ThankFest events this year. Okay! It’s a little crude, but this is the first one — so please overlook those factors. Besides we (me & my little avatar) are offering it up for free. You can click this link right here to get it, if you want to. Otherwise, just click the calendar picture and it will enlarge itself.
