International Tongue Twister Day
“She sells sea-shells on the sea-shore.
The shells she sells are sea-shells, I’m sure.
For if she sells sea-shells on the sea-shore
Then I’m sure she sells sea-shore shells.”

MORE THANKFEST, 2011, BELOW…
Week three of, of our ThankFest (mine and my little avatar, that is) — starts off with being thankful for a useful “old school” tools that never seem to go out of style. They are something useful to bring along on the journey — wherever it may take us. Also, it’s useful for writing little dittys — like the tongue twister above. Welcome and Thanks again for stopping by and checking out this year’s festivities.
It’s all about showing appreciation for everything God has given us. Specifically, we’re putting the spotlight on a few little things made from trees.
Actually, this is the 5th year we’ve been doing this. It all started in 2007 when I was at StumbleUpon. I’m still listed there, but they stopped posting the photo blog part just recently. I knew it would come to that at some point, unfortunately. I would say that most of the ThankFest has happened here (It’s good for me and my little avatar and you too!) and you can visit it, whenever — just by clicking on my ThankFest link here or on the sidebar link at the right.
This year has had it’s share of unfortunate incidents weather-wise or otherwise. There have been wars and all kinds of unfortunate disasters like the one in Fukashima. It just brings to mind how nothing is promised to us, and the need to be appreciative for all the little things — that are so very fleeting.
So I may come across as a silly chicken of sorts, but it’s good to lighten up and not be so serious all the time. After all life is short, so we need to take time to look on the bright side every chance we get.
For this year’s festival I decided to go back to my roots of sorts — back to appreciating trees and their many uses — like paper (I’m a paper fanatic.)
I’m listing things weekly this year. You can see the whole calendar itinerary in it’s entirety below:
THANKFEST WEEKLY CALENDAR LISTING…
1
1.13.11 – It’s International Tongue Twister Day. Yay! Say something silly so says Savvy Suzy. Plus we’re celebrating the pencil too, because it’s made from you know what? Take the time to tell the tongue twister today this Thankfest. That you used a pencil to write down every word. Pencil is one of those “old-school” — low tech — inventions that just seem to never go out of style.
. . . .

11.14.11 – Today is National American Teddy Bear Day? Do you have a teddy of your very own? I have a teeny weeny one — that’s only about six inches high. Their really great collectibles and do a good job of collecting dust. That’s one reason I don’t have many stuffed animals, but I can still appreciate and be thankful that they are great comforters.
. . . .
11.15.11 – Do you like to recycle stuff? Well, if you haven’t bothered, today is a good time to get started — on America Recycles Day. Once you get the hang of it you’ll find all kinds of new ways to reuse your old things. Even the name “recycle” gets up-cycled or repurposed every now and then.
. . . .
11.16.11 – What can we say, but it’s National Button Day. Be it four hole buttons, two hole, pinback buttons or buttons used on internet websites. — it’s all being celebrated today. I like all kinds of buttons, but I really like to collect the pinback kind. So whether it’s holding together a shirt or spreading an idea via a pinback sign — they are all as “cute as a button” and something to be appreciative of.
. . . .
11.17.11 - We’ve celebrated Bread Day before, but today is Bread Machine Bread Day that’s in the spotlight. It’s a fun process, making bread with a bread machine. It’s a very useful gadget. I have made a number of loaves since I got mine in January of this year. I am extremely thankful that I’m able to make my own gluten-free bread, because store bought can be pretty pricey.
. . . .
11.18.11 – We’re celebrating ThankFest Sign Day. We’ve decided to make up a few days of our own for this ThankFest this year. I like signs and what they stand for usually. They can convey a message quite succinctly with just a few visuals or words. So we are very thankful for the signs made out of paper or otherwise that show us what is what and where is where.
. . . .
11.19.11 – ThankFest Map Day is another day that we’ve made up just to show appreciation during this year’s celebration. We can do that — you know? I have six maps on my wall and I keep a look out for more. At some point I will have to make my own to get me from point A to point B.

We (me & my little avatar) are adding something a little different this year… a little PDF itinerary of the calendar below for you to use to follow along with the ThankFest events this year. Okay! It’s a little crude, but this is the first one — so please overlook those factors. Besides we (me & my little avatar) are offering it up for free. You can click this link right here to get it, if you want to. Otherwise, just click the calendar picture and it will enlarge itself.
