SavvySuzy’s 5th Annual ThankFest 2011 — Pizza With Works…

11.12.2011 by savvysuzy

11.12.11

National Pizza With Works Except Anchovies Day

I couldn’t pass up a chance to post a picture about pizza on this kind of a ‘Sandwich Day’ (The 12 is sandwiched between two 11′s.) Albeit, the pizza will be gluten-free for moi.  The pizza above has more stuff on it than what I normally do, but what the heck — one with the works is like a meal in and of itself — saving dishes, time, and work.   That’s something to be thankful for, so I’m flowing with it:

We also made note of a strange number phenomena that happened yesterday… 11.11.11. It’s actually rarer than a so called “blue moon” occurance, because as it turns out they aren’t that rare at all. Actually, last year we had quite a few.

But this 11.11.11 (hubpages.com) date actually happens once every thousand years or so I thought. My estimates was it wouldn’t happen again until 3011, but others have said in 100 years. I didn’t do my research on that aspect. Either way most or all of us will be gone — so put your stamp mark on this one in some way, if you care to that is. What we did for the day was have a Give Away

The first person who contacted me at my in box at exactly 11:11 a.m. yesterday received the pinback, Blue Moon, button (pictured below) from my shop.

Update:  We have a winner for the Blue Moon button below.  Their initials are  J. S., and they will need to submit their address in order for the button to be mailed to them right away.  They contacted me at 11:11 right on the nose.  Way to go!  These buttons are on sale now in my shop.

MORE THANKFEST, 2011, BELOW…

Week two of our ThankFest (mine and my little avatar, that is) — Welcome and Thanks again for stopping by to check it out this year.

It’s all about showing appreciation for everything God has given us. Specifically, we’re putting the spotlight on a few little things made from trees.

Actually, this is the 5th year we’ve been doing this. It all started in 2007 when I was at StumbleUpon. I’m still listed there, but they stopped posting the photo blog part just recently.  I knew it would come to that at some point, unfortunately.  I would say that most of the ThankFest has happened here (It’s good for me and my little avatar and you too!) and you can visit it, whenever — just by clicking on my ThankFest link here or on the sidebar link at the right.

This year has had it’s share of unfortunate incidents weather-wise or otherwise. There have been wars and all kinds of unfortunate disasters like the one in Fukashima. It just brings to mind how nothing is promised to us, and the need to be appreciative for all the little things — that are so very fleeting.

So I may come across as a silly chicken of sorts, but it’s good to lighten up and not be so serious all the time. After all life is short, so we need to take time to look on the bright side every chance we get.

For this year’s festival I decided to go back to  my roots of sorts — back to appreciating trees and their many uses — like paper (I’m a paper fanatic.)

I’m listing things weekly this year. You can see the whole calendar itinerary in it’s entirety below:

THE THANKFEST WEEKLY CALENDAR LISTING…

11.6.11 – It’s that time again. Time to fall back, of course. Here we go again — back to standard time. I would like to know what’s it like to just keep the clock at one standard time without changing it every year. Well, I suppose I could go to Arizona to check that out if I really, really wanted to.

. . . .

11.7.11 – It’s Magazine Day today. If you like magazines like me, then you can appreciate this day, too. I like decorating magazines. Just turning the pages is a very tactile experience. However, I am starting to like the e-magazines on the internet, too. But they and the tablets will never replace the paper ones. They will still make them for people who like to collect such things, like myself.

. . . .

11.8.11 – It National Paperworks & Photoworks Day, so that encompasses a lot of different items made from paper bags to photos. When I was a kid, back in the day, I actually enjoyed the smell of new shiny paper bags (they had some kind of sheen on them). Call me weird if you like, but you probably had your own quirky smells to take you back. Plus here are some other ideas (squidoo.com) to help put those bags to good use.
. . . .

11.9.11 – ThankFest CardBox Day. Why boxes you may say? Well, boxes are very useful items, and I like them. Here are some useful ideas (tipjunkie.com)for things to make with them. I could add to their list with boxes for moving, storing and hoarding, of course. No, just kidding about the hoarding.

. . . .

11.10.11 – A day for those little bundles of goodness on National Vanilla Cupcake Day. Really?! Yes, of course. I guess they needed to be given a little attention. I did just that very thing last year with my ‘Ode to The Cutesy Cupcake‘ ditty.

. . . .

11.11.11 – This is the day we honor all our veterans for their dedicated service to our country. It’s something we do every year, but this year it’s happening on an unusual numbered day, 11.11.11, that is a once in a millennium happening. Some people are planning to get married on this date, and some are looking for strange happenings. Here are some interesting thoughts (hubpages.com) on the date.

. . . .

11.12.11 – Another unique numbered day, but also a day to celebrate something that usually is used to help celebrate other days and events. It’s none other than a Pizza With All the Works — Except Anchovies Day. One slice would probably be pretty filling. I will probably celebrate the day with a gluten free one, being that I have issues with wheat. Pizza is one of those things that it’s best to eat on a special occasion every now and then, because with everything on it would be rather fattening. Did I really have to go there? No. Regardless, here’s a few recipe suggestions (cooks.com).

A SPECIAL FEATURE THIS YEAR…

We (me & my little avatar) are adding something a little different this year… a little PDF itinerary of the calendar below for you to use to follow along with the ThankFest events this year. Okay! It’s a little crude, but this is the first one — so please overlook those factors. Besides we (me & my little avatar) are offering it up for free. You can click this link right here to get it, if you want it.
