National Bake For Family Fun Month

2.20.2011 by savvysuzy

Hello!  Thanks for dropping by to check out my fare.  Are you wondering what the heck is going on here?   Well, it looks to me like a chicken is cooking something.

You know, I’ve been a homemaker for many years now – it’s something that gets tiring after a while, so I’m always looking for new ways to enthuse and improve.   I’m no spring chicken with little chickadees (they’re all grown up now).

However, I do still need to cook and tend to my nest. It’s something that most members of our species need to do, regardless of age or living conditions.

“Housekeeping ain’t no joke.”

– Louisa May Alcott

Louisa May definitely had that right!  You have to keep at it or it can definitely get dangerous. But it’s all about finding ways to do things easier and quicker for me, because I got other things I need to be doing. That’s where my blog comes in and my being free-range. Meaning that I need to get out there in the ether (disguised as a chicken) searching for ways to help me improve myself and the way I do things.

And because life “ain’t always a picnic” either — I like to lighten things up and use my virtual nest as a place to have a little fun.  So that’s my approach if it was flying over your head.

This month is “National Bake For Family Fun Month”.  I waited to write about it, because I have issues with wheat and carbs — so where is the fun supposed to come into play?  Well, like the children’s story “The Little Red Hen” (YouTube) had to work to get some cake or bread made depending on which version.  This chicken (me) has to work at keeping baking or cooking from becoming a chore (Meaning I need to use other ingredients besides wheat and carbs more often than not.  It ain’t easy, but I’ll tell you a wee bit more next time (I don’t want to bore you.)

Hope you had fun listening to the Red Hen story.  In the meantime, check out my other holiday listings below…
