15th — America Recycles Day, Keep America Beautiful
So this is the time of year that America spruces up — preparing for Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings around the hearth and home. It’s also a good time to donate some of those unwanted things.
My family has donated this way for a number of years now, and it allows us to give back and help out even when our own funds are low. Each time we donate they leave us a bag like the ones here. This way it makes it a lot easier for us to contribute.
We’ve recycled everything, for our own use that is, from houses (fixer-uppers), cars, computers, bicycles, clothes, cans, bottles, glass, paper to even hazardous wastes (paint containers, used batteries, etc.) over several decades. (You probably already know I’m not a spring chicken.) And now I’m recycling smaller items like photos, animated gifs, clip art, quotations, words and links — carrying on the tradition. Heck I even recycle parts or even whole articles.
Did you get a chance to check out the posting about the paper stash we collected for a period of time in the past (recycled photo on left)? But then we decided that using less of those items was the easier way to go, especially, since we started using the internet to get most of our news and we had sold our van. So speaking of the internet, I want to put up a belated calendar listing …
12th ~ The Actual Birth of the Web, howtogeek.com
That’s right! Twenty years ago the World Wide Web was actually invented. This thing that allows us to blog and do social networking, amongst a myriad of other uses, was actually invented on the 12th. I didn’t even find out about it until now, so that’s the reason for the belatedness of this post. It’s a bit confusing, because other dates have been cited as the birth of the web, but this is the first time I’ve heard that it was on November 12th. A number of news stations mentioned the fact.
So I think it is fitting for it to actually be in November during Thanksgiving and during the month of the ThankFest, because I definitely do appreciate having the internet. What a gift! It was the day that Sir Tim Berners-Lee, who created the system, and Robert Cailliau, co-authored and published the formal proposal for creating the web. The computer is great too, but the web has made it much more useful.

Thanks to everyone, again, for visiting. A reminder: we have snacks and restrooms, at the designated areas called, YOUR KITCHEN and YOUR BATHROOM. We spared no expense.
Don’t forget, you can check out the *ONGOING FAIR FARE* on my site, and remember to come back each day. Also check out the link below for other events today and the rest of this month. You can click the calendar link below for the complete November Calendar...
