Hey! June 7th is VCR Day!
6.06.2010 by savvysuzyRemember the VCR? “What’s that you say?” I can understand why it escapes your memory, because it was around for a red hot minute. That is, before it got replaced by the next invention — the DVD (Digital Video Disc) — and now the BD.
However, we pretty much by-passed the previous two and went the route of the DVR, because, quite frankly, we don’t want to end up with a bunch of DVD discs, the same way we ended up with a number of VCR tapes of family recordings — that we need to transfer over to some other medium. (We’ll eventually get around to it.) It’s difficult keeping up with all this technological stuff. But I digress.
This is about celebrating VCR Day. Which stands for Video Cassette Recorder, if you didn’t know already. Who started this celebration? I have no idea, but I’m assuming (It’s not good to assume, but I’m doing it anyway.) that it’s probably some of the folks who are still reaping the benefits from using them.
Heck you can get VCR tapes really cheap now, but the quality of the film has probably degraded. But the die-hards don’t really care about that. So here’s to you then! Enjoy your tapes on your day. Plus check out the other kooky/foody calendar days…
