My Two Cents on, LOST, Episode VII, “Dr. Linus”, aka…

3.10.2010 by Savvy Suzy

Something is Finally Cooking…

Albeit, rather slowly — but the writers definitely have something stewing on the proverbial stove.   Whatever they put in the pot — has started to simmer a bit.  It’s smelling kind of good.

Analogies aside, this was a rather delicious smelling episode, although kind of on a slow boil (just a few more analogies, I can’t help myself) — with lots of contradictions. Ben has been (no pun intended) a conniving weasel since the very first episode he was in.  The cynic in me is coming out. He put on a very good “sorry” act, but I’m not really buying it as quickly as Illana did and folks commenting at other places. Maybe she’s playing him too?  Who knows.  Hopefully we’ll find out eventually.

Now, some one commenting on a review at another site had mentioned the sideways flash with Alex dropping in at Ben’s house as being kind of creepy with her making suggestive statements.  I picked up a strange vibe myself — that Alex may have been manipulating Ben to influence the principal to give her a recommendation. I thought they both were kind of icky sweet with one another. It made me a little queasy.  These sideways folks are all rather strange.

Finally, Richard speaks more than a few lines or so. He’s definitely been out of the loop, as far as Jacob is concerned — or so he says. I get the sense he’s playing someone too — with all that quibbling and babbling on — about not knowing what’s going on.   After all, he and Ben used to hang out together.  He was the one who helped bring little Ben around after he was shot by Sayid — he was like his mentor.  He acts like he’s leading Others sometimes — then again he acquiesces to Ben and Locke Poseur.

So who he is and what he knows is still quite a mystery, but he appears to be playing the Losties and Others, as well. Time will definitely tell what’s up with him and Ben.   Now that they’re both together in the same camp — we might get some answers or maybe not — it all depends on the writers.

This episode had a coming home vibe to it (being back on the beach and the plane wreckage) — with overtones of good and evil, redemption, faith (Jack), forgiveness and various other religious, spiritual, and mythological references.  All very rich ingredients being added into the stewing pot to be served up for the Finale Last Supper Affair.  Looks like Widmore is going to drop in for the festivities, and before the end we’ll see other visitors, I’m sure…indeed…

I’m Still Counting Down

Until the Next Episode!

(Things are heating up.

Richard speaks a mouthful of words…)

“LOST” Quote, Season 6, Episode VII, “Dr. Linus“…

ABC TV (Wikipedia)

RICHARD: “I devoted my life, longer than you can possibly imagine, in service of a man who told me that everything was happening for a reason, that he had a plan, plan that I was a part of, when the time was right that he’d share it with me, and now that man’s gone so…why do I want to die? Because I just found out my entire life had no purpose. Now if I light this myself it would work, but you can light it for me Jack. I made the fuse long enough so you’ll have time to get out.”

While you’re here why not check out out my past reviews or, more so, just commenting much of the time… also you can go to ABC.com to see a recent episode — it’s just my serving suggestion.
