10 Days Until “LOST” Plus My Favorite Episode…
1.23.2010 by savvysuzy
This is my tribute to,”The Constant“, my favorite episode of the past five years, and my favorite television show, LOST. It was the best episode ever!
I know it’s just a TV show, but it was a very deep and beautiful storyline. It could have played in any movie theater. Desmond moving back and forth through the two different time frames and the way the writers weaved it all together was quite exceptional.
I learned that ABC did a survey of sorts to find out which were the top shows that the audience liked during the past five years and “The Constant” was the hands down favorite.
YouTube showcased this lovely, lovely segment. Take a look at it, if you haven’t already seen it or watch it again if you have, and then listen to the beautiful background music that helped make it that much more sweet (all except the ending)…
Will the writers be able to rise to the level that they created in this one episode? I “expect the unexpected” as far as as these shows go, because that’s what it is — a show! But — OH! — What a Show — it has been! Up, down, all around and then got back on track again. It could very well derail once more, ala Season III, and go off on some other tangent. However, the writers have been fairly consistent overall since then (except for being stuck back in the 1970′s Dharma Camp for an extended period of time.)
It’s hard to end these kind of serial shows very well, without it being anticlimactic. In a few days and months we’ll find out how they’ve handled everything.
For the next 10 days I will serve up quotes from some of the episodes I liked from the past two seasons (But none of them lived up to “The Constant”, what can I say?), and then we’ll find out the results of last season’s finale big-bang-explosive ending.
So Let The Final 10 Days of the…
“LOST” COUNTDOWN BEGIN!
LOST Season IV Quote …
[They go inside.]
PENNY: Just, say what you need to say and go.
DESMOND: I know this doesn’t make any sense, because it doesn’t make any sense to me. But…eight years from now…I need to call you, and I can’t call you if I don’t have your number.
PENNY: What?
DESMOND: Look, Penny, just give me your number, and, and I know I’ve ruined things, and I know you think things are over between us, but they’re not. If there’s any part of you that still believes in us, just give me your number.
PENNY: And what’s to say you won’t call me tonight, or tomorrow.
DESMOND: I won’t call for eight years. December 24, 2004. Christmas eve. I promise. Please, Pen.
PENNY: If I give you the number, will you leave?
DESMOND: Aye.
PENNY: 7946-0893.
[DESMOND repeats the number, whispering.]
PENNY: All that, and you’re not going to write it down?
DESMOND: It wouldn’t do any good. You have to keep that number. You can’t change the–
