October is Work and Family Month…

Before the month gets out of here, I figured I better tell you, if you didn’t already know — that this month is National Work and Family Month – as decreed by Congress.

This is definitely an unofficial holiday that we haven’t heard too much about. And it appears that the subjects of this supposed holiday, are the very ones who are being put-upon in these present times — WORKING FAMILIES — US.

We don’t do crunchy too much here at SavvySuzy.com, because there are plenty of others doing it.   I decided to lighten’ up a bit.  Work and politics together are crunchy enough as it is.

I found a little  information about this holiday, moreso than the other holidays listed below.  However, some of it was outdated, so I decided it’s time to move on.

Count Your Buttons Day on — 10.21.09 — There’s not being much said about this holiday either.  But I like buttons and I have some to count.  Those are just a few of mine in the jars in the photo there on the lower right.  I think they’re cute!  Hence the phrase “cute as a button” probably comes from.  I don’t do crunchy, much, meaning politics, but the campaign buttons started the craze. I don’t have any of those, however.

Also, here is a bit of history behind the humble button. And don’t forget the pin back buttons that are big collectibles. I have my own small collection that I display over my desk (around 30 or so, not including pins, too.)
