“Some Like it Hoth” or Similarities Between Miles & Hurley
Well, I have to say that this was quite an interesting and humorous episode — even though it was stuck in 1977. Miles and Hurley offered the much needed comic relief, even though it had undercurrent of creepiness interspersed here and there.
By the way, interesting choice of title with reference to the Hoth being some fictional planet from Star Wars — while offering Hurley a diversionary way to pass the time during his stay in the 70′s on the island. However, there is a stark contrast between the episode title and what the Hoth planet might, supposedly, look like, above. “Timber me shimbers!!!” Excuse me…that’s… “Shiver me timbers!!!” I must have been getting brain freeze from looking at the image and couldn’t think?!!
As far as memorizing names of this or that — it’s not really a thing I attempt to do. That way I miss a lot of the little missteps that the writers and directors make. I enjoy seeing the show as a whole, and not dissecting it down bit by bit. I leave that to others. If I can just keep up with most of the characters and much of their back stories — I’m pretty much good to go!
My sons recognized one of the ruffians (I believe his name is Bram.) that kidnapped Miles in his back story, as one of the newbies, who was on the Ajira plane, that crashed on the other island with Cesar, Ilana (Siyid’s captor), Frank and the gang. Now, he poses a question to mind of who’s better his group or Widmore’s? I was reading other sites that were saying that he was possibly sent there to the island by Widmore, but that scene kind of blows that theory out of the water. Or does it? Who knows?!
Sawyer and his other Lostee pals, may be losing their cozy little digs at some point, now that Horace and the gang are starting to get wind of their little charade via the VHS tape that was made. That’s great! Now maybe they’ll be able to move on to something a bit more interesting. At least I can look forward to something like that happening.
Interesting to see, Mile’s father, Pierre Chang, interacting with him as a baby, but it was sad to see what happened between his father and mother — that ultimately effected his personality. Plus, very interesting similarity that was playing out between him and Hurley, but with quite a different bent on certain aspects (Hurley’s father came back, but his left when he was a baby.)
Lots of other little tidbits that probably flew over my head. That’s why I get to go and compare notes with what others’ interpretations were. All in all, a heightened sense of things starting to escalate into some important revelations getting ready to come down the pike.
One last thing! Daniel Farrady during his absence, actually took a sub back to the mainland 1970′s (Ann Arbor, MI, is some of the buzz) I was wondering why none of the other Lostees or Juliet wanted to do that as opposed to being stuck on the island.
Anyway, the 100th episode looks to be mighty interesting or that’s what appears to be happening in the previews!
