Fall Giveaway & Leaf Peeping Down Under!
10.26.2008 by Savvy SuzyMy Leaf Rx Obsession Tour is winding down, right about now, but not really, it’s actually kicking into high gear for my site. I’m getting ready to do something that is unprecedented with my site. And what’s that — pray tell — you may wonder?
In honor of all the virtual traveling we’ve done, and my “going out on a limb” to do my first time ever interview with, Brian Butko, of Lincoln Highway News — (who I knew nothing about before he commented on my site.) After he commented on my site and helped with the making of the upcoming PBS show, A Ride Along The Lincoln Highway — airing on the, 29th of October, at 8:00 p.m. (which he is appearing in) — I decided to “go out on a limb”, again, even further this time — by planning to do something else I’ve never done before…
Just get on with it — are you saying?! What is it, for crying out loud?!! Okay, I’ve teased you long enough — I’ll just go ahead and say it:
As a way to say ‘Thanks’ to all of you who have visited my site — I am offering with the generosity of Brian Butko, a copy of one of his books for free — to one lucky visitor during the Leaf Rx Tour.
The lucky person will receive one of the three books below. I can’t tell you which one until, Sunday, November 2nd, 2008, at 12:00 p.m., will be the announcement time. All visitors are still welcome to participate, so hopefully, you’ll join in my celebration:
For more on his books, visit http://www.brianbutko.com
The winner will be announced on the same day at 12:00 p.m., in honor of my 2nd Annual ThankFest, called – the simple little things — that I’m thankful for, which help me to get by.

Leaf Rx Obsession Tour Continued…
Leaf Peeping Down Under
Did you figure out already which one was next? Well, I wasn’t quite sure, but I checked in Wikipedia and found out that we’re going to ~ Antartica ~ where instead of finding leaves we step into an extreme sub,sub ‘0 freezer, with chunks of snow and ice. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Although, I could use a little bit of cool Arctic breeze, being that we’re still having extended summer out here in the west.
Are you saying leaf peeping in “Antartica” — have you OD’d? Well, we get to virtually visit a place that is not only interesting to look at and wonder about, but we get to glance at a snippet of what it would be like to live there looking through others’ eyes.
No humans had been able to call this place home, until the 19th century and albeit, now as it was then, it’s only for longer temporary stays. However, the only type of vegetation around these parts that I’ve seen is like the kind in the photo on the right where one of these inhabitants is hiding out. Maybe they need a little private time occasionally. It looks like a big convention on the left, where they’re all impeccably dressed! I suppose, “birds of feather — flock together” to stay warm, in this case. That’s amazing!
Me & my little avatar, have searched and searched for trees and leaves, but as I said before, there are none to be found. I have something that will warm the heart, in spite of all of this cold…a beautiful October sunset…is emanating a warm autumnal glow. With that said…we have to go with a hop, skip and a jump — out of this freezer — over to a place called…
Australia ~ which has more oven like conditions, in certain parts, especially, at a section known as the outback.
This photo isn’t showing any trees either, but the ground and the sky, create a vivid contrast. What a rich, rich earthy orange on that road!
There are people who have originated here and those who have adopted this continent as home. It appears that most live along the coast, where we’ll probably find most of the trees — like the photo on the right — at a place called Cradle Mount, which has unusual trees and those with the familiar autumn glow of leaves.
It’s a place where we can also find these shy little fuzzy ones, who love to munch on these kinds of trees. I’m familiar with those kinds of trees, living out here in the west, but don’t really like the way they smell. Although, they have really beneficial medicinal purposes.
Taking another quick jump over to the island country of New Zealand ~ which is a part of the continent of Australia. Oh, oh, oh!!! What a gorgeous photo up on the left, in what is turning out to be a virtual Leaf Rx smorgasbord! I’m going to have to sit here a little while and just sigh…
I’ll throw in one more for the road, because… sigh… it’s time to go to another continent in search of autumnal leaves.
