Leaf Peeping North to South
9.12.2008 by Savvy SuzyIf you’re just joining me and my little avatar, we’re embarking on a trip to indulge my sensory faculties with visions of leaves from all around the USA. Things are actually just getting started. Thus far, we’ve seen some very mellow specimens that are so soothing to my eyes. My condition is called “leaf peeping“. You’re welcome to tag along as I get my autumn fix for the year.
Next state on the list is Delaware (8). We hardly hear about this tiny state up in the northeast. It’s a bit like Alaska. It was the only “D” the Founding Fathers could come up with.
I’ve seen a number of photos of great waterfalls, this one is a fine example — Dingman’s Fall. The fall foliage is definitely enhancing the scenery. Just because this is the only example of a state starting with the letter “D” I’m going to take liberties to enjoy another snapshot of the local color…

Giving equal mention to all the candidates, Vice Presidential candidate, Senator, Joe Biden, hails from this state.
Moving on down to the the southern states — I’m wondering if we’ll find any fall foliage there? There are no “E’s” and only one “F”, which of course we all know is Florida (9).
This is another one of those states that doesn’t come to mind, when looking for autumn leaves. But here again it shows up. Of course, this is the northern part of the state, with much cooler weather overall, but I’m thinking that people have imported in a number of trees over time. The photo below was taken on a cool autumn night in a place called Tallahassee. This one has the moon getting into the act:
