Rockin’ & Rollin’!!!

Things were shaken up a bit around these parts… EARTHQUAKE … Yikes!!! We haven’t had one like that in almost fifteen years. I sprained my ankle attempting to go downstairs to get under the dining room table, which is quite sturdy. It’s supposed to be better than standing in a door sash, which the experts say have caused problems in the past.)

We use to live in a one-story house, and I would always make a beeline for that table. But now we live in a two-story townhouse, which, in hindsight, I see it would have been better to stay where I was. I was alone and not screaming or feeling scared, but I just had pre-determined that the table was the best place for me to be.

Attempted to contact family…we eventually connected. Cell phones and landline phones were inoperative for a while. (Too many people on the lines at the same time is what I heard.)

I was wearing my favorite red flip flops … not the best choice for me to have on (It’s been a long time coming.) Plan to go out and get a sturdy pair of ankle-strapped sandals as soon as I can. I chalked it up as a learning experience, and to be better prepared as far as staying put or moving to a better spot. We have some things prepared, but we need to do better.

It was all a reminder of the nature of living in sunny California, and how vulnerable we really are. They say the “BIG ONE” is expected at some point in time, due to pressures building up on the earth. I’ll have to go out and find savvy information on the subject, because living here comes with sticker tags attached, and today it was a lot of “sticker shock”! This is definitely an area I need to improve my savvy quotient on. We need to be more prepared to “rock & roll”!!!

Did any of you experience the quake? Let me know how you dealt with it.

  1. Hi Suzy,
Glad to hear that you survived the quake. Didn’t feel anything up here, but - being so close to the San Andreas - we are always mindful that it could happen at any time. :)

  2. Hey Nancy!

Being anywhere in California is furtile ground, and yesterday we were given a *BIG* reminder! They were reporting only minor injuries in the news (of which I was included. However, I elevated my leg and iced it up. Now, today it’s feeling 80% better.) Thanks so much, Nancy, for stopping by to leave that message. Take care. I really do appreciate it! :)
