Those Crazy Chicagoans!

7.05.2008 by Savvy Suzy

Enough of my rantings! I’m ready for a little fun. Me and my alter ego are taking a little jaunt out of town through the ether…and over to the Midwest…to the likes of Chicago, to be exact. Just so happens, it’s my home state. What prompted this little trip, you might ask? Well, I was looking at some pictures on Yahoo!news.com, when a photo caught my eye (I’d show it, but they don’t allow, but I went and found similar one at their other site, Flickr.com.) Anyway, I did a double take, because this picture was highly unusual…

What did I tell you! What a totally crazy idea! Entrepreneurship is alive and well in Chi Town. I had wanted to go to Wrigley Field, but never got the chance. However, I’ve been to their rival, Chicago White Sox’s park. I had an enjoyable time. That was when I was sixteen and my year of being a baseball fanatic.

The Cubs were my favorite team, but I liked the White Soxs and the Dodgers, too, but there was something about those Cubs. I think it was the ivy on the backfield wall. I watched the games on TV and listened to their away from home games on the radio. I had crushes on some of the players. I even kept up with the stats, and then I let it go. It was some kind of summertime diversion.

I’m not into baseball anymore, but I did watch when the White Soxs captured that elusive pennant in 2005. Yay!!! (They took the ball by the hand and did the unthinkable! Maybe because they had no sideshows.) If the Cubs decide to do the impossible, up to now, I hope to be able to watch it. But it appears that the fans, the predominant players in this arena, have come up with other diversions and found a way to deal with reality by hitting the “Ball” over the ivy… outside the park and “running with it”!
