I’ve Seen The Light!

There are possibly three camps of people regarding the usefulness of fluorescent lighting: love, hate or somewhere in the middle. I probably am more in the hate category. The “green” folks are pushing these fluorescent lighting in a big time way, now. The only good thing I’m seeing while looking through the lighting issue, would be that it keeps things cool in the summer. Also, they are somewhat useful for growing plants indoors.
But as I’m finding out, through various revelations, is that: 1) you don’t want to break these bulbs, because they can put out some highly toxic out gas. You need to vacate the premises when that happens. 2) It’s also initially expensive; 3) you need to leave on for a longer period to reap any savings, and 4) it’s creates a garish blue-green type of unflattering light. (They do have somewhat warmer colors now). 5) The flickering light irritates the eye.

The thing is, I just like incandescent lighting, although it can put out heat, but that would be a good thing in the winter, besides other reasons: 1) Save on the gas bill. 2) It creates such a warm and homey glow. 3) Easy on the eyes. 4) Initially less expensive than fluorescents. 5) Doesn’t out gas if you should so happen to break it. 6) It’s traditional lighting…highly decorative.
I have a few fluorescent bulbs that I’m using, but they don’t have the friendly ambiance of incandescent lighting. So I’ve ventured out of the nest to find out what’s buzzin’ other than the noise coming from these lights:
