Takin’ A “Chill Pill”…

6/21/2008

“Ah, summer - what power you have to make us suffer
and like it.”

Summer has picked up where it left off last year, out here in the west — hot, hot, hot!!! It would be nice if we could share some of this heat with the midwest to help them dry out and us cool off. I’ll quit complaining and prescribe for myself a cool glass of ice tea…like the photo! It’s the elixir of choice around these parts…next to water that is.

I Almost Forgot…Totally!

6/4/2008

I’ve been busy making changes, on and off the internet. So busy, that I totally forgot something. I remembered earlier on and had planned on doing something…however, I didn’t make a note of it (The only note I made, was mentally… but my brain was overloaded and as things got added…something had to get pushed off the list.) So exactly what is this something I forgot?

I’m Done…Finally! (Lost, Episode #12, Parts 2 & 3)

You know, I saw the Lost Finale, “There’s No Place Like Home, Parts 2 & 3″, on the day it actually happened, but they took us on this “roller coaster” emotional ride — that I quite frankly, don’t know where to start to write my review! I’ll just have to start by saying — WHAT A FANTASTIC RIDE!!! I could use all types of words to describe it, like: angst, anxious, hopeful, sad, angry, hateful, revengeful, amazing, sweet, lovely, happy, morbid, scary and creepy — just for starters. But keeping in line with the summer modus operandi around my nest of using the “K.I.S.S.” approach (Keep It Sweet & Simple) — I plan to take a minimalist approach with this article: (more…)

Simple Good Eats

6/2/2008

Summer has unofficially started with Memorial Day. Although, it’s been feeling like summer around these parts for a while. It got me to thinking, ‘I need to continue the simplicity theme all summer long.’ I’ve got my flip flops on and I’m preparing to do just that. (more…)

Cheap + Fun = ???

6/2/2008

In keeping with the simplicity theme all summer long, how about a little fun? Well, you know a few things about me that I’ve shared with the whole ether-world: the fact that I’m unemployed and financially strapped. That being out in the open is part of the reasoning behind my embracing the word “simple“.

Difficulty Writing About Money, IV

6/2/2008

As we move into the summer months, I’m embracing a mindset that I aspire to all year — KISS (Keep IT Sweet & Simple). So my articles and links will be more succinct, while I look for a job and work on improving my business acumen. As far as money goes, it’s not an evil but a necessary tool in this life of ours. What About Dads?

6/1/2008

Dads are simply just needed — today — and everyday! But where are they?! Why don’t we hear more about them? There’s so much information and focus being put on “Mom”, but “What About Dear ‘Ol Dad?” And how are they faring these days is what I want to know? (more…)

Learning By Happenstance

I was reading my Twitter feed, when I noticed a link posted by Problogger, Darren Rowse, during the Memorial Day weekend — so I went over to check it out. The author, Nadeesha Cabral, has a great analogy going in this article, Bloggers are Like Pawns on a Chessboard. I mentioned to family that I’ve felt like a “pawn”, myself, in various working situations. But the message I’m getting from the article is that it’s up to us where we end up in the game. (more…)

A Simple Plan

6/1/2008

We’re heading into summer and the “living is easy”, supposedly, is the way the song goes. But my life circumstances are forcing me toward taking a more simpler route in my everyday planning.
