Ready For Lift OFF! (LOST, Episode #11)

Where are we/they going? And where do I start in an attempt to give my synopsis of what went down on, LOST, Episode #11, “Cabin Fever”? There was so much happening in this one episode! I’ll just start by jumping in at any point, like for instance, that militant dude, Keamy (hired gun slinger of Charles Widmore), usurped that Captain Gault (who didn’t have a clue) and just blew him away. However, before he did that we went back in time or forward with the boat, and we find out how the Doc ended up washing ashore with his neck slit.

Keamy acts like some kind of killing machine, (What happened to him?) who is determined to do away with the “Losties”, but not if Sayid, with the help of Frank, can get to them first. He leaves Michael and Desmond behind, who doesn’t want to go, because he’s waiting for Penny on the freighter, Kahana. However, we don’t know what kind of connection Penny has to her father. She looks like an innocent, but she could very well be involved in his scheme in some way, as alluded to on other LOST fan sites. I hope not, for Desmond’s sake anyway. Maybe her being called his “constant” means truly that.

It appears that the creep factor is being ratcheted up quite a bit on the island. An example is, Claire, (with her glazed stare) who appears to have passed over to the other side to join Christian Sheppard, (with an equally glazed stare) who is her and Jacks’ dad. While a dead DHARMA worker, Horace who had died twelve years prior, is turning up in Locke’s dreams and telling him that he built Jacob’s disappearing cabin.

Locke, Ben and Hurley finally find the cabin after finding the map in Horace’s pocket, who was lying in the mass grave. Locke goes in and see’s Christopher Shephard in Jacob’s chair, but “he says he doesn’t know where Jacob is”, but we see that Claire is just laying back in another chair in the eeriest kind of a way.

All of what I’ve mentioned so far was a lot of stuff going on, but I was forgetting the unusual beginning, where we go back to the use of the “back-stories” or “flashbacks”, as they’re called on the show, although this may be considered a prequel of sorts…with bam, we find out how Locke came into the world, and his mother just giving him up. There is speculation on the boards that Ben and Locke may possibly be half brothers, in that both of their mother’s names were Emily L.

Then we see, creepy (eyes outlined in black) Richard Alpert coming back into the fray by showing up there in the 1950′s as he looks in current time, which says that he is definitely some kind of time warping entity, appearing to be immortal. Also, even creepier, Matthew Abaddon, showing up in Locke’s life after he was thrown out the window by his supposed dad. He tells Locke he needs to take a walkabout — even though he’s in a wheel chair.

Just when you think things can’t get any weirder, the piece de resistance “bomb” of this entire episode, if you will, was the big reveal that the island can be “MOVED”!!! Say what?!! Now, that’s an amazing concept in and of itself!

So hold on to your “bippy”, the island is preparing to lift off, to who know’s where. If you want more details check Lostpedia’s recap, they do so ever succinctly. This feverish frenzy is way too much for me to delve into too deeply — I’ll let others do that. Next week is the penultimate episode and then they break for a week before we have the two hour finale. After that, we’re in for a long, long hiatus. We’ll probably need it. What a gimmick to keep us hooked in. What can I say…they’ve got me in their fishing net. :)
