It’s A Good Kind of “Lost”, Part II (Episodes 3 & 4)
2.26.2008 by savvysuzyI’m still making little changes to my nest. Thought I would take time to say something about my favorite show,“LOST”. I have a little extra time, especially with it being leap year and all. There are so many theories and discussions about the show out there in the ether. The writers are taking us “up the mountain and back.” So I thought I’d throw in my “chicken feed.”
Last week’s Episode #4, “Eggtown” was kind of “old home week” for some of the “Losties”. It was one kind of a strange episode. We had Kate and Sawyer getting back together again. I could have done without that. They kind of went full circle with Kate’s storyline. We find out in the front story that she plea bargains and gets out of serving any time, but we also find out that she’s taking care of a baby that’s not even hers. What’s up with that?
Whatever happened to Claire, and how did Kate end up with Claire’s baby, Aaron? That is really strange. So she’s paroled to the state of California for ten years, but she doesn’t mind because she’s happy to take care of this baby. But why doesn’t Jack want to see this baby? What kind of issues does this create for him? That house and area she was living at, looked all rather artificial. All just so, so strange.
Plus, what is Locke’s problem? Is he good guy or bad? Why did he get so upset with Ben? He looked like he was going to cry. I guess he was tired of being under Jack and Ben’s command, so he’s decided to take over. Why is he so determined to find out why Miles is there and who’s on the boat, when he doesn’t even want to leave the island? He could easily just settle in and enjoy the little homestead, but NO! He’s got to get all angst!
We also find out in Episode #3, “The Economist” that Sayid is one of the six forward flashing “Losties” that’s attractive (Hey! All of these people are attractive in one way or another. Even, Ben, I suppose. Hmmm, I’ll have to think about that.) and has a strange past (like most of these folks), who appears to get off the island, but he’s in a terrible “fix”! Someone is jerkin’ his chains, and it turns out to be Ben! Why in the world did they allow him to get off the island? He outsmarted someone, and got himself a ticket out.
All of the forward flashing scenes seemed to be “jacked”! My insight is telling me that there’s something totally wrong with what’s going on in the future. There are a lot more questions being created than getting answered it seems with these forward flashes.
This week’s episode appears to be Desmond centric. (He’s not one of the original “Losties”.) He is one of my favorite characters. He’s charming, funny, easy on the eyes, although a bit daft (That appears to be just an act. I think he knows more than he’s letting on.) He knows something that they haven’t unfolded as of yet. Maybe the time is coming for him to be in more episodes. His backstories were some of the best that we’ve seen, in my opinion. So hopefully, this week’s episode will have more action, because last week’s was dragging quite a bit.
What did you think of this week’s episode? Drop me a comment if you agree or disagree.
Week of 2.18.08: ‘Are You “Lost” Yet?’
I’m just taking time out to comment about my favorite show. The past two week’s, LOST, episodes have been all over the place. The supposed rescuers are either (men specifically) bumbling idiots or just plain shrewd and crafty. I plead the latter.
We find out in Episode #2, “Confirmed Dead”, that they haven’t really come to get these people off this island, but are inferring to each other that it’s Ben they really want. Or could it possibly be something totally different that has brought this bunch of misfits a calling?

Remember the “Others”, who were using all kind of disguises and props to throw the “Losties” and the audience off. The only “Others” we’ve been left to sneer at are “Captain” Benjamin, who is still around, making various weird faces, and duplicitous, Juliet, lurking in the background. Oh yeah, I forgot, Karl and Alex, who have kind of grown up on the mysterious and mystical island.
The situation has turned into a number of splintered off groups to confuse even more so. That is, with the group waiting to go on the helicopter (Jack’s group), which includes the group on the beach. Then we have the little group running back and forth between Jack and Locks’ groups, and the little group who are getting to ride the helicopter to the boat that they thought was to rescue them. There also is a group that we haven’t seen hide nor hair of, who was being fronted by Richard. Remember him?
Plus, we’re being taken on forward flashes, back forward flashes, and who knows where else. Talking about plot twist and turns. This season is all over the place, but it is oh so, compelling! It’s definitely living up to it’s name.
This week’s episode, I believe will be Kate centric. A little harkening back to the “cage” episodes. Not that we need to be reminded of that point in the series. Hopefully, they won’t get too bogged down with the past and continue to move forward, as they have been doing in these new and improved episodes. We’ll see tomorrow won’t we?
P.S. The first week’s Episode #1, “The Beginning of End” can be found here. It definitely got Season 4 off to a great start!
