The “Kid” in Me!
12.07.2007 by savvysuzyThe “Gift” of “Fun” or “Play”, if you will, is the ability to tap into that “inner-child” as I see it. We can get so involved in the everyday humdrum events in our lives that it can wear us down — burn us out — make us cynical…if we let it.
I was once an angry person, and I didn’t really know it. I was rigid and kind of just floating around in a daze. Caught up in the “acting like an adult,” but not really knowing what it meant to even be one. The whole time losing touch with who I really was.
Consequently, I had some events, issues and influences that totally changed my life (I don’t want to go into them here) — they gave me a new awareness of what was actually happening to me.
In a nutshell — I had lost the “kid in me” — my “inner child.” So I had to learn how to “play” again. Having my children (my two sons) was one of the greatest things that happened to me, because I got to get back in touch with my “kid” self, by playing and being with them.
That is why I say that I am truly grateful to have this “Gift” returned to me.
This inspired me to want to find other ways and people that are keeping the “Inner-Kid” flowing. Here’s what I found:
