Halloween: Where Did it Come From?

10/31/2007

We’re already at the main “Holiday Season” again for us here in the United States. Halloween used to be one of those holidays mainly for the kiddies — when they would go door to door, but because of incidents with tainted candy, it has evolved into elaborate indoor parties for kiddies and grownups alike.

What Does Character & Celiac Have in Common?

10/29/2007

Well, they have two things that I know of in common: they both begin with the letter “C”, and they both happen to be issues that are highlighted this month:

Pets: The New Royalty

10/15/2007

This post was inspired by last month’s article, ‘Me & My Neighbor’s Cat’. I suppose you can call it a “rant”. But you know, I’m constantly being reminded, how good some pets have it these days. They’re living better than a lot of us folks.

Wardrobe Savvy

10/15/2007

When it comes to dressing — men have it over us women. They keep it simple, comfortable and stylish for the most part. As far as what to wear — they don’t have much choice (hence “Men’s Wear Daily”). They do it well. I guess that’s why it’s easy for them to stay neat.  So I don’t have much to say to them.

Work & Fun Together!???

10/15/2007

‘Work & Fun’ — is there such a thing? Sometimes we wonder. Last month, Inc. Magazine, did a cover story on “Fun” at work and several related stories. Maybe they wanted to write about that particular subject because it was August, and the end of summer can get pretty dry. But offices can get rather stale throughout the year — the endless loop of humdrum work. That said, is it necessary to create an ongoing atmosphere of “fun & games” to keep the employees happy?

Difficulty Writing About Money, Part II

10/15/2007
parade.com

Well, as promised, I’m back to my topic of difficulty. But since I’ve put it out here on the virtual “public-platform” — it’s making it a little bit easier. If you’re going to be savvy about anything — this would be on the top of the list.

Soulful Shoes

10/15/2007

I thought this was going to be a very hard topic to find interesting links on. Was I ever surprised! There was so much stuff to choose from. In fact, I had to eliminate several links — just too many. There still are quite a few, but they help “drive home the point.”

Falling Into Fall

10/15/2007

“Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.”

~ George Eliot (thinkexist.com)

Let the colors of fall begin! The reds, the rusts, the golds — all the bold, bold, bold colors, smells and shapes of autumn. I’m ready for another fall tour. Ready to experience the colors and the smells.

Shame on “Survivor”!

10/7/2007

The crew of “Survivor” have reached an all-time low with this season’s installment. I never would have thought they would have followed the all-time high of last season’s show, with this kind of trash. I am not a prude, but this is ridiculous! It warranted me saying something, after I had written an “ode to the show and “Lost”. (more…)

A Little Different This Year

10/1/2007

Like how many times do I need to say it — the year is moving fast. So I need to stop saying it. It’s like the real year doesn’t get started until September, and it will definitely be moving in the highest gear. Everything is crammed into four months. Then we need the eight months of the new year to recuperate. (more…)
