Keep a Spring in Your Career
4.01.2007 by savvysuzyOne of the blogs that I like to frequent for funny and common sense advice about careers, whether I’m looking or not is. Check out the Wall Street Journal’s site at, www.careerjournal.com, they have lots of helpful information.
Spring and fall appear to be the annual job-hunting seasons. Things have a way of being categorized like that. Here’s one of those personal tidbits, by day I’m an administrative assistant — it’s what helps pay the bills. Plus I like working with information and computers. However, blogging is turning into my real passion, because I’d do it even if I weren’t being paid, and I’m not!
So I know what it’s like to find yourself out there pounding the pavement on occasion. It can be a drain physically, financially and spiritually, if you let it. ‘If you let it’, those are the operative words. It’s all on how you perceive and respond to the circumstances, is my take on things. The time can be a real growth experience or one wrought with down-spiraling negativity.
I’ve learned, that it’s not a good time to beat up on oneself. I’ve had to be my own best friend at that time. I’ve learned to stay optimistic even when getting rejected right and left. At those times, I’ve come to understand, moreso than ever, what “not taking things personally” means. So, again, what I have to say is don’t give in to the negativity.
