Food for Thought: Breakfast for Dinner
3.12.2007 by savvysuzy
I wrote an article, recently, titled, Food Fight, where I discussed the inordinate amount of food that has been put before us, on a daily basis. It’s everywhere! It’s on TV shows and commercials, supermarket shopping samples — at work, where there’s always doughnuts, birthday cakes, candy or some special food spread of the week or the month.
For those of us who are attempting to maintain or lose weight, it can be a somewhat daunting task to stay the course. I know we need to exercise to lose pounds, of course, but along with that, we’ve got to watch our food intake (It’s the BREAD!). Now, this is where it gets tricky for me. Keeping that balance.
Well, here comes the Reverse Diet, dietsinreview.com — which involves eating dinner for breakfast and breakfast for dinner (Eating the bigger meal earlier in the day is a shift that I’ve been working on.) Who hasn’t done this from time to time — unless you’re an extreme “traditionalist”. Not that I’m knocking traditions, but sometimes you just have to shake things up!
I need a “paradigm shift”, to make a drastic, but needed change in my eating habits. And this is where I am. I’m ready to take a different approach, but I won’t call it a “diet” (it’s not a good word and temporary). What I need is an “eating plan” that will be sustained.
I don’t think it matters if it’s breafast/lunch/dinner food that we eat for the first meal, but that it’s a healthy and nourishing breakfast that will take us through the early part of the day. And the dinner needs to be lighter — for when it’s time to slow down and prepare to turn in for the night. Makes sense to me. What about you?
