“Paper or Plastic?”

July 4th, 2008

It appears, that in honor of 4th of July, I’m taking to a national past time…ranting. I’m using the new “All American soapbox”…a blog…to get up and rant about various issues. The big debate: “Paper or plastic?” Do you get asked that question every time you go to the supermarket/grocery store? I used to get asked all the time, but it has subsided somewhat in recent months. However, the debate regarding this question is heating up. Read the rest of this entry »

Me & My Neighbor’s Cat, Part II

July 2nd, 2008

All right you cat lovers…don’t get in a hissy fit! Yes, I’m still dealing with the neighbor’s cat. And no…there I’m saying it! I’m not a cat lover. I don’t hate them…just neutral. As far as this cat goes…I’ve been advised that I could contact the Humane Society and have them cart this nasty cat away, but I don’t want to do that. Read the rest of this entry »

Are Things Getting Better or Worse?

July 1st, 2008

I’m wondering…as I take time out from flying around the ether-world with my little avatar…I need to focus more on home base…meaning the USA. So I’m asking the question, ‘Are things getting better or worse?’ Gas prices are way up; the housing bubble is still letting out air; and food prices are competing with the gas, as to which can empty out our pockets the fastest!

The economist say we have something like a 5% unemployment rate, which they claim is not all that bad. That is… unless you happen to be one of the 5%… like me. However… I’m not one to go about wringing my hands and saying “woe is me”. I just have to “keep on keepin’ on”, because what else can I do, other than give up? Read the rest of this entry »

I’ve Seen The Light!

July 1st, 2008

fluorescent bulbThere are possibly three camps of people regarding the usefulness of fluorescent lighting: love, hate or somewhere in the middle. I probably am more in the hate category. The “green” folks are pushing these fluorescent lighting in a big time way now. The only good thing I’m seeing while looking through the lighting issue, would be that it keeps things cool in the summer. Also, they are somewhat useful for growing plants indoors. Takin’ A “Chill Pill”…

June 21st, 2008

“Ah, summer - what power you have to make us suffer
and like it.”

Summer has picked up where it left off last year, out here in the west — hot, hot, hot!!! It would be nice if we could share some of this heat with the midwest to help them dry out and us cool off. I’ll quit complaining and prescribe for myself a cool glass of ice tea…like the photo! It’s the elixir of choice around these parts…next to water that is.

I'm Celebrating!

I Almost Forgot…Totally!

June 4th, 2008

I’ve been busy making changes, on and off the internet. So busy, that I totally forgot something. I remembered earlier on and had planned on doing something…however, I didn’t make a note of it (The only note I made, was mentally… but my brain was overloaded and as things got added…something had to get pushed off the list.) So exactly what is this something I forgot?

Getting "Lost"!

I’m Done…Finally! (Lost, Episode #12, Parts 2 & 3)

June 3rd, 2008

You know, I saw the Lost Finale, “There’s No Place Like Home, Parts 2 & 3″, on the day it actually happened, but they took us on this “roller coaster” emotional ride — that I quite frankly, don’t know where to start to write my review! I’ll just have to start by saying — WHAT A FANTASTIC RIDE!!! I could use all types of words to describe it, like: angst, anxious, hopeful, sad, angry, hateful, revengeful, amazing, sweet, lovely, happy, morbid, scary and creepy — just for starters. But keeping in line with the summer modus operandi around my nest of using the “K.I.S.S.” approach (Keep It Sweet & Simple) — I plan to take a minimalist approach with this article: Read the rest of this entry »

Good Eats!

Simple Good Eats

June 2nd, 2008

Summer has unofficially started with Memorial Day. Although, it’s been feeling like summer around these parts for a while. It got me to thinking, ‘I need to continue the simplicity theme all summer long.’ I’ve got my flip flops on and I’m preparing to do just that. Read the rest of this entry »

Cheap + Fun = ???

June 2nd, 2008

In keeping with the simplicity theme all summer long, how about a little fun? Well, you know a few things about me that I’ve shared with the whole ether-world: the fact that I’m unemployed and financially strapped. That being out in the open is part of the reasoning behind my embracing the word “simple“.
